Strategies of the company

Strategy Three

To promote increased family socialisation through organised leisure and foster increased belongingness to the enterprise and personal dynamics through sports and cultural activities

1. Leisure Management Programme

Several activities, organised under the Fund's leisure management programme, namely EPZ games, song competition, weekly recreational outings for women and their spouse and children, are estimated to have reached some 30,000 workers since its lauching in 1990.

This Leisure Management Programme will aim at targetting some 30,000 additional workers during the plan period. With a review to decentralize activities for EPZ games a zoning exercise will be effected during 1998 and respective coordinating committees put in place by 1999 for organisation of regional EPZ games. By year 2000 an INTER ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP will be organised and will be kept ongoing thereon.

During the plan period the Annual EPZ Football Tournament expected to group more than 20 enterprises will be maintained. The creation of an EPZ football club forming part of the MFA will further be studied.

2 Holiday Accommodation Scheme

In 1996 with a view to give a new dimension to family leisure bungalow facilities at beach resorts were provided free of charge for three nights to the most productive workers in the enterprise. The selected workers were allowed to bring their family members along with them.

2000 additional families will be targetted during the plan period. This welfare action, besides being leisure-oriented, is further expected to yield positive quality and productivity efforts in the enterprise.
