Strategy Six To Provide daycare services for children in the age-bracket of three months to three years
From 1988 to this date the Fund continued to expand its daycare centre network. Seven centres were made operational at La Tour Koenig, Surinam, Quartier Militaire, Rivière du Rempart, Plaines des Papayes, Ste Croix and Mangalkhan and had over the years serviced more than 600 children of EPZ workers. The Fund's daycare centres became the core subject of an indepth study by the World Bank in 1994 and it was found that the childhood development efforts contained therein showed interesting financial lesson, i.e the excellent tripartite partnership between Governments, Emloyers and Workers. During the plan period (July 1997 - June 2002) the same tripartite partnership will be used in respect of other daycare projects. In 1998 the eighth daycare centre was made operational at Goodlands. Two other centres are expected to be made operational after a needs assessment in regions of localised EPZ labour.
